Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 9, 2026 · swimshark is in beta
What we collect
- Account: your email address (if you create a login or use Google Sign-In) and a hashed password if you set one. Google Sign-In shares your verified email with us; we do not store your name, photo, or any other Google data, and we never see your Google password.
- Swimmer profiles: first name, birth year, home city, and swim level — entered by you. We suggest first names only. No school, no address, no photos.
- Watches & alerts: the lesson levels/cities you ask us to watch.
- Usage events: first-party, cookie-free analytics (e.g. "a search happened", "a register link was clicked") tied to a random browser identifier, and to your account when signed in. We use no third-party analytics and no advertising trackers.
- Instructor applicants: certification details and the documents you upload, used only to verify your application.
- Feedback: whatever you write us, plus the page you sent it from.
What we don't do
- We never ask for or store your city recreation account passwords.
- We don't sell or share personal information with anyone.
- We don't run third-party ad trackers. If we later show ads (e.g. Google AdSense), this policy will be updated first.
Where data lives
On servers we operate in British Columbia, Canada, with nightly backups. Usage events are deleted after 180 days.
Your rights
Signed-in users can export everything we hold (Account → export) or permanently delete their account and all associated data. Or email us and we'll do it for you.
Children
swimshark is used by parents and guardians. Swimmer profiles describe children but accounts belong to adults.
